The Lacemakers - The History of Los Encajeros

The first Carlist War, triggered by dynastic discrepancies among the Bourbon family, has just ended and Bilbao was recovering after a long siege. It was 1880 when Manuel Mendoza Miranda decided to establish a fine lingerie shop and factory called <<The Lacemakers>>.

The first shop was located at no. 4 Banco de España street, in the heart of old downtown Bilbao. The later generation, expanded its geographic radius, as Bilbao stretched the borders of tis own municipalities, and a new shop was set up in <<El Ensanche>>. However, <<The lacemakers>> were so proud of being exclusive brand from Bilbao that they resisted the temptation of leaving their beloved <<Botxo>>. Nevertheless, their fame has crossed many frontiers and today <<The Lacemakers>> decorate numerous homes of both royalty and nobility in Europe. This distinguished Bilbao lable can be found on tables in eminent palaces, on the beds of many noble bedrooms, and among the trousseau of various beautiful princesses.

For the last years <<The Lacemakers>> have been trying to expand their horizons to include America, land of the pionees. Therefore, you can now find all of these fine linen goods present in the United States, Mexico.
